WW2 RAF “Button” Escape Compass

Black bakelite button with integral magnetised section. Small dots on the reverse of the button indicate North and South. When suspended by a thread the button could be used by an evading or escaping airman to head for neutral territory. Excellent condition.  read more

This version shown here is assembled from two separate brass buttons that were part of the RAF uniform. More specifically, these were trouser fly buttons.
